Wednesday was the 4th of July and we were excited because we had lots of fun things planned. The KOA we stayed in has activities for the kids all day long and they had lots of festive things planned for the holiday.
The first thing on our agenda that day was the bike parade. All the kids met in the park and got decorations to put on their bikes or scooters or whatever for a parade around the campground.
Ella all dressed up for the parade. |
Later that day we went to Coronado Island again to play on the beach. Kind of a bummer because it was overcast that day and a bit chilly but also kind of good because it kept the sunburns to a minimum.
Tabby figured out the boogie board |
Gunny didn't want his picture taken so he hid in his life jacket. |
We went back to the KOA for dinner and
the daddies were really nice and volunteered to stay home with the
babies so Tracy and I could take the big kids back to watch the big San Diego Bay
fireworks show back at Coronado. It was super cold and we froze but had a
great time.
Waiting for the sun to go down and the show to start! |
I guess San Diego Bay had planned to do a big
15 minute long firework show but they had a technical problem and ALL of
the fireworks went off about 5 minutes before the show was supposed to
start.
We thought it was the 5 minute warning or
something and we said if that was the 5 minute warning, this is
gonna be the best show ever!
We we were wrong, and San Diego was embarrassed.
Good thing we could still see Imperial's fireworks show from where we were sitting!
I do have to say though that watching all of the fireworks go off at once was pretty freaking cool. The most exhilarating 10 seconds ever!
I did not take this video but I'm putting it on here so you can get an idea of what we saw. This is from the bay but we were sitting on Coronado Beach which was a lot closer.
