V-Day Swap!

I signed up for a Valentine's Day swap hosted by this neat crafty blog called Artsy Mama. I was pared up with another crafty person and we swapped valentine's craft supplies. The instructions were that we had to send it in a heart-shaped box with 20 or more little cups that had goodies in them. I posted some pics of what I sent my swap buddy. I can't wait to see what she sends me! And yes, I did eat all the chocolates that came in the box before I decorated it. Except for the coconut ones. Eeww!

My Idea of of Super Saturday

I had one of the best runs ever yesterday. It started so good because we left at 8 a.m. Usually in the summer we would leave at 3 or 4 am to beat the heat! That's what I love about this time of year. You can go when you want. Kathleen, Cresta, Karolee, Stacia and I drove out to the Salt River tube rental place and parked in their parking lot and then ran out onto Bush Hwy. I am by no means fast but I was so proud of the pace I kept the whole time and I also ran up a monster hill with out stopping. You probably could have walked faster than I ran, but it doesn't matter, I ran up the whole thing! Kathleen ran with me a good portion at the start but we all realize Kathleen is way faster than the rest of us and finally she broke off in to her amazing pace and sped back to the van. Karolee caught up to me and I'm so glad she did. It is so hard to keep up the pace at the end of a long run and she really kept me going. It's been a while since I felt the "runner's high." And I was so glad I did because I had a miserable run on Thursday. It felt like my legs were made out of lead! I did 16 miles by the time I got back to the van. That's the longest run I've done since October and I was so happy that I finished what I set out to do yesterday. I've had some serious hamstring problems lately (ouch) and I was worried that I might have to cut it short but it ended up being one of the greatest practice runs.

Thankfully, all the gals decided to go out for a movie and dessert last night and I'm so glad I got to come along. I got a job now that I do from home and it seems like I haven't ventured out into the real world in a while. I go to work everyday in my "uniform," sweatpants and a t-shirt, so it felt great to get on nice clothes and hang out with a bunch of super fun women. We saw 27 Dresses, which was a totally cute movie and then went over to Cheesecake Factory for food. I love strawberry shortcake and they have the best one ever! Get it the next time you go. Good times!

South Mountain Again!

South Mountain is one of my favorite places to run. There is a paved road from the bottom of the mountain to the very top. You know those twinkling red lights you see on top of the mountain to the west of us every night? Here's what they look like in the day.
Stacia, Karolee and I all went together on Saturday morning. Karolee beat the pants off us to the top! Dang, girl!

It's such a beautiful place to run and when you get to the top, you can see the whole valley, smog and all.

Here's Stacia and Karolee:
Here's me and Karolee. I look like a goober in this one with my nerdy water belt but I'm posting it anyway to prove I was there:
It's a 14 mile run in all but the funnest part for sure is going back down the mountain!

Holy crap! I have the best husband ever!

I want to post this to let my husband know how awesome he is! Cheesy I know, but he'll like it.

So Wednesday night, I get home from running and I come into our bedroom that had been a mess (which means I have not been keeping up my New Year's Resolution.) Anyway, I come in and the bedroom and bathroom are sparkling clean! Vacuumed and everything! It gets better, he had fixed me a hot bath! That was great because I was freezing from being out in the cold.

Brace yourselves, there's more. I went running at the track last night (thanks for coming with me Cresta!) When I got home, the Christmas tree was taken down - yes, I still had it up, thank you very much - the floor was vacuumed and here is the kicker: he cleaned out the fridge, I mean he didn't just take all of the old nasty food out, he scrubbed down the entire inside! What? You heard me. It really doesn't get better than Dale Morris!

Yeah, I love going clubbin'!

Card clubbin' that is! Every month me and a bunch of talented friends get together and swap cards that we make. We have a new theme every month and this month was happy birthday! The only problem is, I'm terrible at remembering birthdays! If I've forgotten your birthday, don't take it personally, Dale and the kids are lucky if I remember theirs. Which makes me think, maybe our theme for next month should be happy belated birthday!

I got a great new book by Autumn Leaves called "The Foof-a-Life."
I love it and it gave me the inspiration to make these cards:

When in Rome....

You Belong in Rome

You're a big city soul with a small town heart
Which is why you're attracted to the romance of Rome
Strolling down picture perfect streets, cappuccino in hand
And gorgeous Italian people - could life get any better?
What City Do You Belong In?

Make that cappuccino a Mountain Dew though...

Fairy Princess

Tabby got invited to go to a princess party at her friend Katelynn's house last week. Starting when she woke up that morning she asked me about every 5 minutes if it was time to get her "Barbie as the Island Princess" dress on yet (she said it like that every time.) Finally, at 3 in the afternoon it was time!

Trampoweee!

Yes! We got a trampoline! And best of all? It was FREE! You all know I love a good deal but nothing gets better than this! My sis-in-law needed a higher one because her growing kids were hitting the ground when they bounce (it's only 2ft. tall.) She got a new one and gave this one to us! I love that it's low to the ground. If my kids tumble off, no worries because they don't have far to fall. They've been on this thing for hours a day. Rex especially loves it.

Here are our scrubby looking kids having a blast!

Piggy hasn't tried it yet. You can see he's thinking about it:

We all love that great static effect:

Best in 08

It's late at night and I took a nap earlier today. I can't fall asleep so why not blog?

Tabby got a DVD for Christmas that teaches little girls how to be a cheerleader. There is a cheer about making your "good better and your better best." Naturally, she's watched it at least a million times and now the song is playing over and over again in my head.

That little phrase is making me think of New Year's Resolutions. Normally, I don't make any. I think it's kinda silly. But I did make a resolution last year and I actually accomplished it so I am encouraged. What was that resolution? To not get pregnant for the whole year. Yay for me, I did it! Best resolution I ever made.

Anyway, here goes for 2008. I kept the bar pretty low so let's see if I can do 'em:

1.) Hang up my clothes if they aren't dirty. I have a horrible habit of trying clothes on and then not hanging them back up if I don't decide to wear them. Or if I did wear something and it's not justifiably dirty, I chuck it on the floor or my dresser instead of putting it back in the closet. If I get ambitious and clean my room, it's a pigsty again in about 3 days.

2.) Have individual playtime with each of my kids every day. You are probably thinking "What an awful mom, she doesn't play with her kids!" I do play with my kiddos, just not as much as I think I should. I don't know about your kids, but mine are starved for attention 24/7. There aren't enough hours in the day to fill them up with as much attention as they want! But at least I can try harder to make them feel special and loved every day.

That's it, only 2. There are a bazillion other things that I can improve on but let's just focus on these 2 and see where that gets me. I'll report back in 12 months.

What are your resolutions?
