Here's Me Being Candid

Dang, so much has been going on and I just realized I should totally share. Sharing is caring. Here are some major events in our lives at the moment.

First, you know those moments when EVERYTHING is falling apart and going straight to you know where and then a few days later everything is so much better? That just happened. A few weeks ago, Dale called me from work and informed me that they were doing cut backs and he would be losing his job in about a week. Super awesome. It was so extra awesome because Dale has been looking for a new job for over a year and nothing came our way and now we only have a week? In this economy, it seemed unlikely. On top of that Dale hadn't been getting his usual overtime for a while (another company cut back) and he worked A LOT of overtime cuz we aren't rich and the bills don't pay themselves so of course we were behind in our mortgage payments. I'm not afraid to admit that because these days, you can count yourself lucky if you are not behind. So great, no job, no house = awesome. BUT we did not despair. We pay our tithing and fast offerings so we knew somehow things would work out because that is a promise the Lord gives to us. And wouldn't you know it, they did work out! Not but 3 or 4 days later, Dale got a job! It was totally out of the blue and it was one of those he knew a guy who knew a guy things. The way it came about was totally inspired too. His brother Rob told him to go with him to his ward's BBQ because there were going to be a lot of people there who he could "network" with. He ended up talking with a friend who he hadn't seen in a while, Dale emailed him his resume the next day and the guy forwarded it to a few of his friends and wal-la! An interview and then finally a position. So it just goes to show you, pay your tithing every cent and go to BBQ's when invited. As for the house situation? We may still lose it. Unless we win the lottery, we can't make up those back payments. Hopefully the bank will work with us. I guess it depends on what kind of mood they are in. Either that or I will have to start playing Scratchers.

Second, we are prego again! Yay! You may remember what happened back in August. It was sad but we gained a lot of perspective and our testimonies of the gospel really grew. We are super thrilled to be expecting again. I had an early ultrasound and the doctor tells me that what was wrong last time is occuring in this pregnancy also. Ugh. I really really don't want to go through that again so we are hoping and praying for the best. One good sign is that I am super sick this time around where last time, I wasn't sick one bit. Being sick to my stomach 24/7 is actually a very good thing. Oh the irony! I was on total bedrest last time because the hemorrhaging was so bad but this time I'm on sorta bed rest. No heavy lifting, no exercise, no you-know-what. TMI? Sorry. I meant cleaning then. I can't clean, WAY too much stress. I have an OB appointment a week from today and I will for sure post the news good or bad. One thing I'll say is try having been on bedrest for 2 weeks (5 lbs) then sadly, you have a miscarriage (10 lbs, not kidding, they say that's normal. I say it's a slap in the face.) Then get pregnant 2 months later (I lost count of the lbs. now) and then be on sorta bedrest where you can't even go for a walk (who knows, I'm scared to get on the scale.) And then eat everything in sight because for some weird reason when you get pregnant, you are starving all the time and if you don't eat, you get vicious barf sessions. Is that a baby bump already? Nope, it's chub. Yeah, I'm looking hot.

And yesterday was my birthday. And it wasn't so bad as Dale made it sound. Okay maybe it was. But it was probably my fault. I think my expectations are just unrealistically high. I think I envisioned rose petals gently falling on me from the sky all day and a magic unicorn knocking on my front door and whisking me off to the Tahiti. Besides, he's outdone himself on more than one occasion so no big deal. And to make things harder on him, I didn't want any money spent on me cause hello, did you read the part about possibly losing the house? So what's a guy to do? Plus, his first day at his new job was yesterday and that's a great b-day gift in and of itself. But next year it's the big 3-0. That's different. He should start planning now.

On a side note, our amazing friends have a precious newborn baby girl who is having open heart surgery tomorrow. You can read about it here. Please pray pray pray for them!

Happy late Bday Alys! Congrats and we'll keep you in our prayers that everything will go better this time around. Unfortunately we won't be coming for the holidays this year($$$$) so I won't be able to come see you, but the kiddos and I will be coming in the spring, so we'll have to get together then. Oh, and congrats to Dale on his new job, that's awesome, it's because you guys are such great people.

wow! Sounds like your going through alot! I can sympathize a little... I had to take an entire extra month off work because of complications with our baby & then my husband was laid off, so our budget is next to nothing. My birthday is on Friday & I'm in that same boat, but I don't think I'm expecting rose petals ( I totally laughed when I read that) cause thats what I really want too. Congrats on the preganancy! Hopefully everything will be fine :)

Now I feel bad I didnt know! Nothing like adding stress to you. I am so happy for Dale - he seems like such a neat guy, and a great husband. (He is pretty lucky too - he married a smart, talented, hottie) I will be thinking of you. I do anyway everytime I look at my awesome Banner. Keep your chin up - I refuse to let you go anywhere. WHat would Sierra Ranch Ward be without the great and fearless Alys MOrris!?

I love how Dale used the word "fancy" in your birthday post. Yes, Alys. You are a fancy lady. :) Congratulations on all the happy news. Canon would love to have Rex come over and play sometime. Send him over.

Congrats on the baby and the job, Alys! Let me know if you need a break, and I can baby-sit. Happy late birthday. Sorry about your house, but Travis said most banks are really trying to work it out so people can get back on their feet. Hopefully that will work out, too. I'll be keepin' ya in my prayers.

I hope things get better for you guys, glad your hubby at least got a new job. It is getting scary how many people are in trouble these days in one way or another. I hope your pregnancy has a better turnout this time. No one likes to be on bedrest or be sick, but when it comes to your baby, you gotta do what you gotta do! I will be praying for you guys and your needs. Hang in there!
